GOLF AT HERITAGE GOLF CLUB

Heritage Golf Club is widely recognised as the most legendary club on the island with not one but three exceptional courses, the Championship 18-hole course, the secondary 18-hole course, and a 9-hole option, each designed to showcase the natural beauty of Mauritius while providing a unique challenge. Set within the grounds of a 19th-century château estate, arrival hints that this is golf designed as an occasion. We remember driving in through the landscaped avenues and feeling expansive in every sense: space, views and ambition.

Of the three distinct layouts, the Championship course is the one that often steals the spotlight. Fairways roll through gentle foothills, lakes and streams slip into play at unexpected moments and centenary trees frame holes in a grand and sculpted way. As the round unfolds, glimpses of the ocean begin to appear, creating that satisfying sense of descent toward the coast that makes the closing stretch particularly memorable. Challenging without being punishing and rewarding for players who think their way around the course.

What struck us most was the level of upkeep. Greens run true, deliberate bunkering and every transition between holes carries a sense of polish that explains why the course regularly hosts the Mauritius Open. Even golfers who have played widely tend to notice the balance here between championship-level challenge and the subtle elegance of the surroundings.

After the round, the clubhouse completes the experience with refined ease encouraging you to linger. A drink overlooking the gardens or dinner at Le Château is, of course, the natural closing chapter of the day. Heritage is the one you choose when you want a full-scale golfing occasion that combines tournament pedigree, sweeping scenery and the luxury of an estate setting.
